House Fire In Highland Park
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - A Highland home is a total loss, following a fire early Monday morning.
Concerned her house would also catch fire, neighbor Gladys News managed to get safely. She sat in her car watching crews battle the flames.
"I was sleep, then I smelled smoke and it woke me up," News told WWJ's Vickie Thomas.
She told WWJ she saw a ball of fire from her side windows. "It was real bad and I didn't know if it was my house or that house. That's how bad it was," she said.
Fire officials said there appeared to be no fire damage to News' home, although there was some smoke damage.
The occupants of the home that was destroyed were not immediately located.
No firefighters were injured while battling the fire.
