Crash On Telegraph Road Leaves 1 Teen Dead, 1 Critically Injured
ASH TWP. (WWJ) - Police say one teen was killed and another was critically injured when their vehicle collided with a semi-truck in Monroe County.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Telegraph and Sigler roads in Ash Township, just east of I-275, which does not have a traffic light.
According to the sheriff's office, 17-year-old Manushaqe Pasho, of Newport, was driving with her friend, 17-year-old Chelsea Klocek of Newport, eastbound down Sigler Road. Police say when Pasho's Jeep entered the intersection, it collided with a semi-truck that was traveling northbound on Telegraph.
After the crash, both vehicles traveled off the northeast side of the intersection and came to rest along the shoulder of the roadway.
Klocek was declared dead at the scene. Pasho was rushed to Oakwood Hospital in Trenton where she remains in critical condition. The semi-truck driver, a 57-year-old Morenci man, was uninjured.
Police say everyone was wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Neither speed, nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
