Craigslist Posting Gets Man 8 Months Probation
BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A man who authorities say posted a message on Craigslist promising ``a good time'' if callers asked for a Bay County bar employee has been sentenced to eight months of probation.
The Bay City Times reports a judge on Tuesday also ordered 52- year-old Stephen C. Laymon of Bay County to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
He was charged in September with a felony of unlawfully posting a message in September and pleaded no contest to a lesser misdemeanor.
A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.
Defense lawyer Jason P. Gower says his client is ``adamant'' about his innocence. Gower calls the message ``a practical joke gone bad'' and says it was the electronic equivalent of writing something on the bathroom wall.
