Coyote Spotted In Pleasant Ridge
PLEASANT RIDGE (WWJ) - Pleasant Ridge officials hope to trap and remove a coyote spotted roaming the streets and backyards of the Oakland County community.
Residents have been advised to keep small children and pets indoors until then.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Ron Dewey spoke to one couple, living in the area since 1964, who said they have never seen anything like this.
"I was in shock. I couldn't imagine it," Marilyn Maddox said.
"My neighbor called, yesterday, and informed me of it, and I thought someone had mistaken it for a dog. But, the picture that was on TV certainly looked like a coyote," said Miles Maddox.
Coyotes have also been a perennial problem in the Pointes, where they apparently make their way by ice floes from Lake St. Clair. But this is the first time such an animal has been spotted in Pleasant Ridge.
Local officials are puzzled as to how the animal traveled this far into the suburbs.
