Court Date For Dad Who Let His 9-Year-Old Drive
BROWNSTOWN TWP., Mich. (WWJ) - A father who let his 9-year-old daughter drive his van while he was apparently intoxicated will be in a downriver court Tuesday.
Shawn Weimer was arrested a month ago after allowing his young daughter to drive him to a convenience store because he had been drinking. Police in Brownstown Township say a surveillance video shows him bragging about his 9-year-old daughter's driving abilities to a store clerk.
Weimer has been free on $25,000 bond, but is being charged with child abuse and being a habitual offender. He'll appear in 33rd District Court in Woodhaven.
