Couple Charged In Federal Grant Embezzlement Scheme
DETROIT (WWJ) - A couple, who used to live in Detroit will, Friday, face formal charges of embezzling federal development funds.
The 56-year-old Gregory Gray and 52-year-old Cheryl Gray will each be arraigned in 36th District Court on three counts of embezzlement of $100,000 or more, larceny and failure to file taxes.
They are accused of receiving development block grant funds from the city of Detroit to build the Detroit Theatre for Dramatic Arts, which was to be built adjacent to Greektown Casino. Instead, proscutors say the Grays allegedly embezzled the money for their own use.
The couple was extradited back to Michigan from Arkansas.
