Cops Bust Marijuana Grow House Near Macomb County School
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - Police in Macomb County say they uncovered an illegal grow house with nearly 100 marijuana plants just 40 yards away from a school.
The Macomb Sheriff Enforcement Team received an anonymous tip about marijuana being grown and cultivated in a commercial building on Cass Avenue in Mt. Clemens.
After securing a search warrant, detectives raided the building last Tuesday and discovered "a sophisticated grow operation which was cultivating 87 marijuana plants."
Investigators talked to the building lessee, 26-year-old Shane Boden, who initially characterized himself as a licensed medical marijuana caregiver. After some additional discussion, police say Boden admitted that he did not have a medical marijuana card, nor was he a provider.
In addition to the plants, detectives also confiscated air-cooled lamps, power inverters and power amplifiers.
Boden, of New Baltimore, was arraigned Wednesday in 41B District Court of Clinton Township on charges of delivery/manufacturing of marijuana, maintaining a drug house, and possession of marijuana in a school zone.
Boden was released after posting 10 percent of a $7,500 bond.
