Cooler Temps, Storms Move Through Metro Area
DETROIT (WWJ) - Following two days with temperatures at 94 and 96 degrees in Detroit, the Metro has been hit with some cooler temperatures. Along with the cool down comes a storm front, moving east from Wisconsin.
Early Thursday, residents in southeast Michigan were feeling the effects of the cool down, as high winds and hail were reported overnight.
A trained National Weather Service spotter reported a wind gust of 70 miles per hour near Mt. Clemens around 2:40 Thursday morning. Gusts of 65 miles per hour winds were reported in Dearborn and 60 miles per hour were reported in Oxford and Monroe. One inch diameter hail was also reported in Monroe.
Police dispatchers in Genesee County reported numerous trees and power lines down in and around the Flint area.
About 30,000 DTE Energy customers remain without power Thursday afternoon, following Wednesday's hot temperatures and overnight storms. The largest outage appears to be in Macomb County near M-59 and Romeo Plank roads.
That is in addition to the 13,000 Consumers Energy customers who remained power across mid-Michigan.
The utility companies said they hope to have power completely restored by Thursday evening.

Saturday - Mostly cloudy, becoming partly sunny during the afternoon. Showers likely with scattered thunderstorms through late afternoon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 77 to 81. Lows 55 to 59. South winds 5 to 15 mph, turning to west late. Chance of rain 60 percent.
Sunday - Partly sunny. Highs 67 to 71. Lows 52 to 56.
