Cool Response To UAW 'Organizing Principles'
Toyota's top manufacturing executive responding coolly to a series of organizing principles presented by the United Auto Workers (UAW). WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert spoke with Toyota's manufacturing chief Steve St. Angelo at the North American International Auto Show.
St. Angelo has not personally seen the principles issued by the UAW but did not seem to keen on the idea.
" We do have principles at Toyota, called the 'Toyota Way', and those principles at Toyota have worked very well for us. Over the years, they have worked well for our team members, suppliers, and everyone within the Toyota family." St. Angelo stated.
St. Angelo emphasised that included not laying off workers during the recent recession. The UAW, which is working to organize foreign companies has also promised to put pressure on those that don't agree to their principles.
