Congressman John Conyers May Be Facing Challengers
DETROIT (WWJ) - U.S. Representative Hansen Clarke may be looking to soon challenge Congressman John Conyers. Clarke is using Facebook and Twitter to tell constituents that he plans to run for the newly redrawn 14th district, currently represented by Conyers.
The district stretches from the Grosse Pointes through northern Detroit, into Oakland County and up into Pontiac -- while Clarke's 13th district, under the revisions, will include much of Detroit and several western Wayne County cities. If Conyers stays in the 14th district -- several others have expressed interest in challenging him, including state Sen. Bert Johnson and Southfield Mayor Brenda Lawrence.
