'Coneys For A Cause' Raises Cash For THAW
DETROIT (WWJ) - Local celebrities served up piping hot coneys for a cause on Thursday, raising money for THAW, the Heat and Warmth Fund.
WWJ Newsradio 950's own Vickie Thomas and Charlie Langton, along with Bill McAllister and Mike Stone of 97.1 The Ticket, joined other media personalities, athletes and entertainers waiting on customers during the lunch rush at American Coney Island in Detroit.
A portion from the sales of coneys and coney combo specials will be THAW, a non-profit agency that provides low-income individuals and families in Michigan with emergency energy assistance. Recipients of THAW assistance include the elderly, unemployed, underemployed and disabled individuals who find themselves in temporary crisis and unable to pay their heating bills.

If you missed Thursday's event there are plenty of other ways to help during the 10th Annual WWJ Radiothon benefiting THAW. WWJ will broadcast live on Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2, at Art Van Furniture on 14 Mile in Warren.
Last year's radiothon raised approximately $378,000 and we couldn't have done this without your help.
