Community Searches For Missing Clinton Township Teenager
CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Family, friends and concerned community members are searching for a Clinton Township teenager who has been missing for over a week.
Kelly Rowland said her 15-year-old son, Dakota "Cody" Strine, disappeared last Friday from their home on 15 Mile, near Kelly Road.
"He took out the garbage and never came back in," Rowland told WWJ's Beth Fisher.
Rowland said her son, who she described as being emotionally impaired, may have run away because of stress caused by school.
"We've been working really hard with him. It's his first year in a real school and not a special-ed school, so we think maybe part of it is from the pressure of being in a regular school," she said.
Clinton Township Police say they're concerned for Strine's welfare but think he may be hiding at a friend's home, since the teen has a history of running away. Rowland said she knows her son has run away in the past, but it hasn't happened recently.
"When he's like quote-unquote run away in the past, he's never been gone for more than an hour," she said.
Now, Rowland is asking the public to look at her son's picture and keep a cautions eye open.
"I just want to know that he's safe, I really want to know that he's safe," she said, getting choked up. "I love my son very much and I really, I just want to know that he's safe."
Strine is a ninth-grader at Fraser High School. He's described as 5' 8," 158 pounds with light brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
Anyone with information on Strine's whereabouts is asked to call Clinton Township Police at 586-493-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
