Community Members Canvass Crime Area To Help Catch Killers Of Musician

DETROIT (WWJ) - As funeral services were held Wednesday for a beloved musician gunned down during a carjacking in Detroit on Christmas Eve, several members of some community groups canvassed the area where the crime took place passing out flyers to help police find his killers.

"People calling --- what they think they know, especially when you have video footage and you have the two guys, so a lot of people will probably be calling in 'I think I know them' and unfortuately you get a lot of tips ... they have to look at the tips carefully," says Young.

Anthony Tolson was shot and killed outside a store on Gratiot south of 8 Mile Road. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. You can make an anonymous tip at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

AnthonyTolson"The killers are still at large, we don't want them to strike again - we need somebody to give us a tip that will lead to their arrest," said Rev. David Bullock with Change Agent Consortium, while passing out flyers.

Anthony Jones and a crew from Crime Stoppers and Mothers of Murdered Children as they walked up the block on Fairmount Drive off Gratiot.

"The reception has been so good - people are actually chasing us down for flyers - they actually want some details on what happened and how they can help," said Jones.
