Commodore Signs One-Year Deal With Wings
DETROIT (WWJ)- Mike Commodore got an unexpected call just a few hours after clearing waivers on the first day of the NHL's free agency period.
"I'm in the process of going from Kelowna to San Diego where I go every summer to train for a while," Commodore said, "and I wasn't expecting anything. Not a phone call. Not a nothing," said Commodore, speaking to the DetroitRedWings.com.
"I had a lunch set-up with a friend of mine and the phone rang, and it was my agent, who said, 'Detroit's called.' I almost crashed my truck." added Commodore.
Commodore signed a one year deal with the Wings, worth $1 million, his agent tells The Associated Press. Last season the 31-year old Commodore played for the Columbus Blue Jackets - the Red Wings will be his sixth NHL team.
