College Student Killed In Crash
A college freshman headed to her Bloomfield Hills home for Thanksgiving was killed and three of her friends injured after the SUV they were in hit a tractor-trailer in northern Ohio.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Sunday that 18-year-old Denison University student Juliana Karmann died Friday evening after a tractor-trailer pulled out in front of her SUV.
The State Highway Patrol says the driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 51-year old Yul Tyrone Godfrey of Detroit, has been charged with negligent homicide and failure to yield. He's in jail.
Passengers Catherine A. Maiorana and Madison Saunders, both 18, were taken to a hospital where they were treated and released. A third passenger, Bennett Osentowski was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he was in fair condition, according to the Dispatch report.
A university official says a memorial service will be planned after students return from the Thanksgiving break.
