Coast Guard Rescues 2 Boaters From Lake Erie
The U.S. Coast Guard says it has rescued two people from a 19-foot boat that was taking on water in Lake Erie.
Authorities say the rescue at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday was roughly 10 miles north of Ashtabula, which is in the northeast corner of Ohio.
The Coast Guard says a helicopter crew from Detroit found the boat and that a rescue swimmer helped pull both boaters into the aircraft.
The Coast Guard also sent two boat crews from Ashtabula after receiving the distress call at about 11:45 a.m.
The boaters were taken to Ashtabula Airport. No injuries were reported.
