Clinton Township Man Arraigned In Connection To Drunk Driving Fatal Accident
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A Clinton Township man has been arraigned for the traffic-related death of the passenger in his car.
Police say Christopher Buckerfield was driving his red 2008 Suzuki SX4 westbound on I-94 on Friday night when he lost control of the car causing it to roll over.
A passenger in Buckerfield's car, Eddie Griffin, 28, of Warren, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says in a statement that prior to the crash, sheriff's deputies had been dispatched to the freeway on the report of a red vehicle that had been "swerving all over the road." Deputies were attempting to locate the vehicle when, just before midnight, more "911" calls were received relating that a car had rolled over on I-94 near Shook Road.
Buckerfield was video-arraigned in 41B District Court of Clinton Township. He was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, a 15 year felony, and possession of marijuana.
He was granted a $50,000 bond.
Buckerfield is scheduled to appear in court again on
Feb.23.
