Compuware Changepoint Gets Deal In Aviation Industry: Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, announced the successful implementation of its market leading portfolio management software, Changepoint, within the Controls business unit of Curtiss-Wright, a provider of engineering products and services specializing in flow control, motion control and surface technologies. A longtime fixture in the aviation industry, Curtiss-Wright continues to produce high performance flight actuation, pilot controls and aircraft handling systems at the heart of every commercial and military aerospace platform. Seeking to streamline and automate its product development and end of life processes, the team within the Control business unit's Integrated Sensing division began to seek a commercial software solution that would eliminate its current paper-based methods for product line management, project tracking, resource management and reporting. In addition to streamlining and automating processes to extract more efficiency from its teams, the Curtiss-Wright controls business unit also sought to better define and implement a product sunset methodology, more accurately monitor the financial profitability of each product line and increase executive-level visibility into the sensor product development process. The team examined six vendors. During a proof of concept engagement, the Changepoint team fully implemented its solution within two key projects. This demonstrated Changepoint's ability to manage the end-to-end product development process, administrate all project-related activities and improve utilization and deployment of internal Curtiss-Wright and subcontracting resources. The Changepoint team also transformed the client's current paper-based reporting methods — which required significant upkeep to maintain — into a dashboard view providing real-time, relevant information to the Control organization's management team. Following this highly successful POC, Changepoint was selected, with a SaaS version of Changepoint going live earlier this year with more than 100 users within the Curtiss-Wright Integrated Sensing team.
