West Virginia Selects Thomson Reuters' HIE Advantage Platform: The West Virginia Health Information Network has selected Thomson Reuters HIE Advantage as the technology backbone for its statewide health information exchange system. WVHIN is a state agency governed by healthcare payer, provider, consumer, and government stakeholders. The system will securely capture real-time clinical and administrative data from electronic medical records, healthcare claims, and other sources and provide clinicians with comprehensive patient histories at the point of care so they can make better-informed clinical decisions. The statewide HIE can improve the coordination of care, improve clinical outcomes, reduce unnecessary and redundant diagnostic tests, create a less fragmented clinical and administrative workflow, and control healthcare costs. The exchange is funded with federal grants, state matching funds, and provider fees. Participation in the exchange helps providers earn federal meaningful use incentives.
