City Of Detroit Files Lawsuit Against Federal Monitor In Kilpatrick Case

DETROIT (AP) - The city of Detroit has filed a lawsuit seeking more than $10 million it spent on a federal monitor who had an improper relationship with ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

The Detroit Free Press reports the lawsuit filed Friday in Wayne County Circuit claims Sheryl Wood Robinson and her employers charged the city for millions of dollars in work.

It says she should have been independent, professional and unbiased in her job monitoring changes at the Detroit police department.

Wood quit the job after text messages revealed the relationship with Kilpatrick. Her lawyer has said she "conscientiously fulfilled all of her duties.''
