Citizen Tip Leads Detroit Police To Major Drug Bust
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police say a tip by a concerned citizen led them to a vacant home where over $700,000 in illegal drugs were confiscated.
The lead came into the department's narcotic unit which indicated where a very large amount of narcotics was being stored and packaging to sell.
Detroit Police raided the vacant dwelling on the city's east side on Sat. May 26 around 10 p.m., and seized almost 400 grams of heroin, seven grams of cocaine and more than $9,600 in U.S. currency.
Police estimate the street value of the drugs to be over $720,000.
A 17-year-old male, who was not immediately identified, was taken into custody without incident.
Police Chief Ralph Godbee said he was proud of the "citizen, who stepped up to join us in this battle against the criminal behaviors within our communities."
