Church Lowers Gas Price In Ypsilanti For Three Hours
YPSILANTI (WWJ) - If you like the sound of cheap gas, then you should make it a mission to stop in Ypsilanti at the Kampus Korner BP on North Huron Street for a fill-up Saturday morning.
Paul Knickelbein of Cross and Resurrection Church said his congregation is cutting the price of gasoline as a way to give back to the community.
"What we're going to be doing is offering gas at $2.49 a gallon. We're trying to get as many people involved as possible, so we're going to limit it to 10 gallons per person," he said.
Knickelbein said this was a great way to give back, but the full service won't end with the discount -- the church is doing even more.
"We're washing the windshields, pumping the gas and we'll even have runners so if somebody wants a Coke or a candy bar, we'll have somebody run in and get it for them."
Knickelbein said it's all about the community coming together and supporting each other.
"It's an exciting weekend here on Eastern Michigan's campus, with the big game that can make them bowl eligible, so we're trying to just add to the excitement of the neighborhood and give back to the community."
The event runs from 9:00 a.m. until noon Saturday Nov. 5 at the Kampus Korner BP gas station, located at 819 North Huron Street in Ypsilanti.
