Chrysler Fires Foul Fingered Tweeter
DETROIT (WWJ) - Chrysler says it's now fired a contractor who used a foul word on the company's Twitter feed.
This is what those following the @chryslerautos twitter account Wednesday morning received:
I find it ironic that Detroit is known as the #motorcity and yet no one here knows how to f*****g drive.
The word we censored, was in the Chrysler tweet, which was re-tweeted throughout the Internet, where it's created a lot of buzz. But, not the kind of buzz Chrysler has been looking for.
A Chrysler spokesman told WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert that the tweet was not intentional. Later the company announced they had found the person who was responsible, who was an employee of a subcontractor, New Media Strategies, that Chrysler hired to handle its social media efforts.
"Chrysler Group and its brands do not tolerate inappropriate language or behavior, and apologize to anyone who may have been offended by this communication," read a statement from Chrysler. "Furthermore, the Company has set in place appropriate steps to ensure that this does not happen again."
Chrysler did not say exactly how message got out. There was some speculation that the person sending the message thought they were using their personal Twitter account.
