Chrysler, Nissan Hiring
TOLEDO (WWJ) - Chrysler plans to add 25 workers per shift to its Wrangler line at the Toledo Assembly plant. That would help crank out an additional 100 vehicles per day.
Earlier this week, Chrysler-Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said they only had a 30-day supply of Wranglers because of strong demand. There are also whispers of a new special-edition Wrangler coming out sometime this year.
Nissan is also adding to its workforce.
The automaker plans to hire 200 engineers over the next two years at its Farmington Hills technical center. They'd join 800 others who already work there. The center handles product engineering of vehicle bodies.
While some experienced engineers will likely be hired, they expect most of their new faces to be recent college graduates.
