Child Bike Helmets Sold At Target Recalled Due To Choking Hazard

DETROIT (WWJ) - About 129,000 infant and toddler bike helmets are being recalled because of a potential danger to children.

The helmets, imported from China by Wisconsin-based Pacific Cycle, have magnetic no-pinch chin strap buckles with small plastic covers and enclosed magnets that could pose a choking hazard.

The company says there have been three reports of the plastic covers coming loose, but no injuries were reported.

The helmets — made for kids ranging from one to three years old — come in various colors and design patterns and were sold at Target stores and online at Target.com  from January 2014 through April 2016 for between $18 and $25.

Consumers should take the helmets away from the children and contact Pacific Cycle for information on how to get a free replacement at 877-564-2261 during regular business hours.
