Charles Pugh For Detroit Mayor?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Does Charles Pugh want to be Mayor of Detroit? WWJ's Roberta Jasina and Joe Donovan posed the question, Thursday, during a an interview with the Detroit City Council President.
"I think every kid would like to grow up and be Mayor of the town they grew up in. At some point I will think about that. I'm not gonna be dishonest with you," said Pugh.
But, would he consider challenging incumbent Mayor Dave Bing in the election?
"I'll be thinking ... those are great questions," he said.
Pugh said his focus, right now, is on his work on City Council.
Speaking live on WWJ, Pugh said in the midst of all the talks on the budget, crime remains his main concern.
"People will say, well that sounds contradictory because we just made minor cuts to the police department," Pugh said.
"But, the reality is, fighting crime is not just the objective of the police department. Fighting crime is a community issues," he said.
