Charges Possible In Fatal Van Dyke Crash
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Drugs may have played a part in a fatal accident in Sterling Heights this weekend and the truck driver involved may be facing criminal charges.
Investigators planned to talk with prosecutors Monday to determine what, if any, charges should be brought against the 60-year driver whose truck slammed into a car along Van Dyke near 15 Mile Saturday afternoon.
A 92-year old passenger in the car was killed. Two others were seriously injured.
Police said the suspect driver, who remains in custody, was weaving on the road before his truck went into the median and collided with the car which was stopped for a red signal at the crossover for southbound Van Dyke.
Police also want to hear from any witnesses who were in the area around 4 p.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call (586) 446-2920.
