Charges Brought Against Suspect In The Carjacking Of 83-Year Old Man

DETROIT (WWJ) - Everege Dickens from Detroit has been charged with armed robbery, carjacking and fleeing from police --just a few of the charges levied against the 26-year old.

Investigators allege Dickens robbed an 83-year old man at gunpoint at a gas station on Telegraph and Ten Mile then led police on a chase, snarling traffic for hours on Telegraph.

Dickens was shot by police after he tried to get away on foot when they brought his car to a stop on Telegraph.

He's being treated at a hospital and is expected to be okay.

Dickens is being held on $2-million dollar bond.

Reportedly a Southfield police officer witnessed the entire carjacking.
