Casting Call: Haunted House Workers Wanted
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Think you've got the stuff to be seriously scary? Michigan's largest haunted house is looking for you.
Erebus in Pontiac is holding a casting call this weekend to fill out their staff for the upcoming season.
Owner Edward Terebus told WWJ's Sandra McNeil he's looking for people who are able to let loose.
"We have a huge family. It's a lot of fun. You're going to scare people. The cool thing is when we put make up on ... you're somebody else. You get to be who you want to be.
"That's the beautiful thing about Halloween — nobody's going to judge you for it," he said.
Terebus said those who try out will be placed in one of the rooms of the haunted house, where they'll have to try to scare a group of people — including several managers and the casting director.
Each participant will be given a character.
"What we'll do is we'll give you the parameters of it and some people will actually go and take that character and say, 'Oh man, I can add this .. .I can do this...'"
Terebus said the job is usually geared more toward young adults, but anybody can try out.
You have to be at least 18. Their oldest actor was 67.
"To scare somebody, it doesn't mean you have to be loud and obnoxious. You can be soft and quiet and just creepy," said Terebus. "One of our best actors, Bree, she's small and tiny and probably weighs about 75 pounds. But when she gets in character, she'll creep you out."
It's not for those looking for a lot of money. The pay is just minimum wage.
The auditions, held at Erebus, are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7-8.
