Car Lands In Water-Filled Quarry From I-94
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A narrow escape for a woman Thursday morning on I-94 in Roseville. Police say, just before 5am, a car went from the I-94 freeway into a retention pond at a quarry. WWJ's Lance Howard was over the scene in the LaFontaine Cadillac Buick GMC Chopper and says the vehicle apparently left the right side of the road, went over a ditch and a large fence to end up in that retention pond. The car was nearly submerged.
Police say the driver likely had a seizure or other medical problem, but managed to escape with minor injuries. A police lieutenant tells WWJ the woman was able to get out of the car on her own and, in fact, was standing by the roadside when first responders arrived.
The traffic on westbound I-94, just past 14 Mile Road, was backed up for several miles as wreckers worked to get the car out the retention pond.
