Capac High School Evacuated After Bomb Threat
CAPAC (WWJ) - Students were evacuated from Capac High School in St. Clair County Wednesday morning following a bomb threat at the school.
WWJ's Roberta Jasina spoke with school spokesman Jerry Jennex, who confirmed the evacuation was ordered after a bomb threat was discovered in the boy's bathroom.
"This morning at about 9:45 a.m., I received a call from the high school principal and he reported that we had a bomb threat at the high school. So, we put into motion our emergency response plan and we worked together with our local police and we came up with the decision to evacuate the high school building," said Jennex.
Police searched the school and determined it was an idle threat. At this time, a suspect has not been named. No injuries were reported.
"We don't know who did it. We believe it was a prank. If we're ever going to err, we're going to err on the side of safety," said Jennex.
Students were temporarily sheltered on busses before being released if their parents gave them permission to go home.
"Within less than two hours we had the students distributed and school was cancelled for the remainder of the day," said Jennex.

There are 463 students at the school, which is located about 60 miles north of Detroit.
