Canton Man Dies In Crash Day After Wedding
CANTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) - A newly married Detroit-area youth minister has died in a traffic crash in Ohio while he and his wife were on the way to their honeymoon.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Jordan Costa died at the scene of Sunday's rollover crash in eastern Ohio's Tuscarawas County. The 21-year-old victim's wife Heather Favazza-Costa sustained minor injuries.
The Costas were married Saturday at Connection Church, where both were involved in the youth ministry.
In a letter to the congregation, the Rev. Rocky Barra says the church's "heart is broken" over Jordan Costa's death. Barra officiated at Saturday's wedding.
Costa worked for the past four months at Blockbuster video in Wayne County's Canton Township.
Store manager Jackie Manor calls him "such an amazing individual" who dreamed of being a minister.
She told WWJ's Sandra McNeill Costa has a personality that could light up a room. She and her small group of employees are in shock.
"He was, for being such a young man, he was just such a positive influence on everyone around him and we just loved him," Manor said. "We're devastated."
Police are not sure why Costa lost control over the vehicle, which rolled over across the median. Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Favazza-Costa remains hospitalized.
