Campuses In Michigan Host Vigils After Paris Terror Attacks

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - University campuses in Michigan are among places in the state where vigils have taken place for victims of violence including the deadly attacks in Paris.

Candlelight vigils were held Monday night at the University of Michigan's campuses in Flint and Dearborn.

At McKinnon Plaza on the Flint campus, The Flint Journal reports about 80 people gathered to remember those killed in Paris, Beirut, Baghdad and elsewhere. The vigil was organized by fraternity Theta Chi and groups including the Muslim Student Association participated.

Earlier vigils took place in Dearborn and Detroit.

In Grand Rapids, the McKay Tower in downtown was lit with the colors of the French flag.

U.S. and Michigan flags across the state are to fly at half-staff through sunset Thursday as a sign of respect for victims.
