Calvin Johnson on 'Bad Boys' Label, 'Have To Be Kinda Nasty'

During this week's interview with the Lions Calvin Johnson, Mike Stone and Bill McAllister wanted to know about the "bad boys" image the league and other teams have tagged to the Lions.

So, what does Johnson think of that label? "I guess when you say 'bad boys' you really don't want to embrace it, one because of our recent history, and (I) want to clear the air of recent stuff."

Stoney also asked Johnson if the Lions defense is any dirtier than any of the teams he has faced.

"No, not at all," he said. "I see a lot of crazy things on defense, whether it be other teams or our team. It's part of the game ... have to be kinda nasty on defense."

With the recent news that Ndamukong Suh bought recliners for the defensive line, McAllister asked Johnson if he would take the receivers on another trip since he took them with him to the Pro Bowl this past season.

"It would be another trip," said Johnson, addding when Sara asked if the trip was how he got such nice comments from Nate Burleson ('Calvin is better than Randy Moss') -- Johnson said, "That's why we are going back on a trip."

Stoney wrapped up the interview by asking about the possibility of the Lions playing more no-huddle offense.

"That's be nice -- it doesn't give the defense a chance to do what they really want to do," Johnson said.
