Shootout Win For Wings At Calgary
The Red Wings only had the lead once in the game, but it was when it counted-at the end.
The Wings continued their winning streak on the road, making it five road wins by beating the Calgary Flames after a scoreless overtime and then a shootout win.
A shootout goal by former Flames' player, Todd Bertuzzi gave the Wings a 5-4 win over Calgary.
The Wings were tied 4-4 going into overtime play against the Flames after Brian Rafalski scored his second goal of the night to tie the game, late in the third period.
Calgary took the early lead when Flames forward Curtis Glencross scored at 8:43 in the first period.
The Wings responded quickly as Darren Helm found the net with just under four minutes left to tie it at 1-1.
With just 9.2 seconds left in the first period, Calgary's Jarome Iginla scored the go ahead goal for Calgary to end the first up 2-1 against the Red Wings.
The Wings tied it up briefly just seconds into the second period but the Flames Curtis Glencross scored his second goal of the night and Calgary scored again with under 8 minutes to go in the second to go up 4-2 over the Wings.
Detroit's Patrick Eaves helped spur the rally, scoring to make it a one goal game, 4-3.
Brian Rafalski gave the Wings the tie in the third making it 4-4.
In the overtime shootout, Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi made the goal for Detroit. Bertuzzi, the former Calgary Flames player gave the Red Wings the 1-0 overtime win, with the game ending 5-4 Detroit.
The Detroit Red Wings faced Calgary on the strength of four straight road wins, and a season record of 2-0 against the Flames. The win gives Detroit a season sweep of its Western Conference foe.
