Cadaver Dogs Reportedly Pick Up Human Scent During Search For Bianca Jones
DETROIT (WWJ) - Cadaver dogs brought in to help in the search for two-year-old Bianca Jones -- who hasn't been seen since December 2 -- have reportedly picked up the scent of human remains in multiple locations tied to Bianca.
Bianca's father, Deandre Lane, told police he was carjacked at gunpoint and that his daughter was in the back seat in her car seat when his car was stolen. When his car was found a short while later, the car seat was in the back seat of Lane's Mercury Marquis but Bianca was missing.
Detroit police announced Tuesday they submitted a warrant request in the case, but they wouldn't specify the suspect.
On the volunteer front, when contacted by WWJ Newsradio 950 a Detroit police spokesperson would only say that the volunteer search for Bianca has been suspended, although the Command Center has been closed.
Now that the Command Center has been closed, a Detroit Police task force is handling the investigation. The task force is comprised of Detroit Police, Michigan State Police and the FBI.
Responding to reports that the search for Bianca has switched from a rescue to a recovery, the spokesperson would only say that the investigation is ongoing.
WWJ and CBS Detroit.com will have more details on this developing story as they become available.
