Cabrera Hits His Way To Two More Milestones
3B Miguel Cabrera reached one personal milestone Tuesday and a second one Wednesday. Cabrera hit his 30th home run of the season in the first inning Wednesday, making him the only Tiger ever to reach 30 in five consecutive seasons. "I'm not surprised by anything he does," manager Jim Leyland said. "He's just a superstar, a terrific player. The first pitch he saw he hit for a home run. That's not easy to do, especially against a pitcher you've never seen before." Cabrera drove in his 100th and 101st runs of the season Tuesday night to make it nine straight years with 100 or more RBI. He reached the century mark in his 117th game, earliest in his career, and is only the third Detroit player to drive in 100 in five straight seasons. As usual, Cabrera was reluctant to talk about his feats. "That's selfish," he said. "We're here for one reason -- winning games. We're winning. We go back home and try to win the most games we can."
