Burglar Makes Off With Small Arsenal From Cop's Home
LYON TWP. (WWJ) - The search is on for whoever broke into a police officer's Lyon Township home and stole several guns and ammunition.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Department said officers responded to a report of breaking and entering at a home on Richfield Street near South Lyon just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say the homeowner, who is a police officer from Northville, came home to find someone had broken into his home through a back window.
Upon surveying his belongings, the victim noticed several of his guns were missing, including two AR-15 rifles, a shotgun, a .22 cal. long gun and a .38 cal. hand gun. Along with the firearms, investigators say six loaded 30 round clips belonging to the AR-15 rifles were also taken.
Washtenaw County Sheriff's K9 responded to the scene to track the suspect, but they couldn't find anything. Investigators also attempted to process the scene for fingerprints, but got nothing.
Police have no suspects. An investigation is ongoing.
