Brothers' Business Deal Ends In Murder-Suicide
DRYDEN TWP. (WWJ) - An alleged disagreement over a business deal turned deadly for two Lapeer County brothers Saturday.
Dryden Township Police Chief Larry Pack said 63-year-old Joseph Tebben shot his brother, 64-year-old James Tebben, and then shot himself.
Pack said the original confrontation between the two brothers involved money.
"It became known through the investigation that leading up to the incident there'd been an ongoing disagreement between the two over business and finances," Pack said. "It would seem a ridiculous ending to a business transaction, but that's the only unusual part of it."
Although there was no prior indication of trouble before the altercation, Pack said family members took them the brothers had problems going back many years.
"I talked to another brother, who said it was a love-hate relationship their whole lives," he said.
The Dryden police crime lab is still holding an ongoing investigation, but the Lapeer County Medical Examiner's Office has officially closed the case as a murder-suicide.
