Brighton Firm Gets DoE Wind Grant
Brighton-based Clean Green Energy LLC said it had received a $620,000 grant award from the United States Department of Energy to help bring a 200-kilowatt vertical axis wind turbine design into cost-effective mass production.
Clean Green Energy and an earlier company, McKenzie Bay International, have been laboring for the better part of a decade to bring the technology market.
Clean Green Energy says the vertical turbine design, which resembles a giant beater on a household mixer, will allow for distributed onsite generation near buildings.
A video of the prototype turbine from Oct. 14 can be viewed at www.mckenziebay.com.
