Bright House Networks Opens Filipino Channel Signal During Crisis

LIVONIA (WWJ) -- Bright House Networks announced Tuesday that it is working with The Filipino Channel to open the network's signal in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

During relief efforts of one of the world's biggest storms, TFC has been providing special coverage on the ground in the Philippines. Digital customers can now access the Filipino Channel locally on channel 792. The signal will remain open through Nov. 15.

Typhoon Haiyan was more than three times as powerful as Hurricane Katrina, which hit the U.S. eight years ago.

Over the weekend, Bright House Networks made TFC available to all digital customers at no additional charge in cities where TFC is carried.

TFC is the No. 1 Filipino network in the world and available in the United States as a premium channel from coast-to-coast.

Bright House Networks is the sixth largest owner and operator of cable systems in the U.S. and the second largest in Florida, serving 2.5 million customers in Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and California.

In Michigan, Bright House serves Farmington, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Northville, Northville Township, Novi and Redford Township.
