Bricks Fall Onto Woodward From Six-Story Building
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) - It was a dangerous situation in Highland Park Thursday, as bricks fell to the ground from a six-story building along Woodward near Tuxedo Street.
Reporting from Chopper 950 above the scene, WWJ's Bill Szumanski said drivers along Woodward were hitting the brakes to avoid the falling bricks.
"It's one of the tallest buildings along Woodward Avenue and it's close enough to the road here... these bricks that are falling from the fourth and fifth floor are coming down into the road," Szumanski said.

Highland Park police and MDOT were on the scene, blocking off traffic in front of the building. Woodward Ave. was closed just south of the Davison in Highland Park, but has since reopened to traffic.
Crews spent the afternoon removing bricks from the affected portion of the building.
Earlier, WWJ's City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas saw nearby resident Rob Cosby clearing some of the bricks from the roadway.
"I just couldn't believe it. I was walking my son to the bus stop ... came around the corner and I saw everything on the ground here," Cosby said.
Adding insult to injury, the bus stop is located right in the path of the falling bricks.
Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp said the city is contacting the owner of the building.
