Bond Set At $1M For Mich. Man In ND Oil Field Stabbing
WILLISTON, N.D. (WWJ/AP) - Bond has been set at $1 million for a Michigan man accused of stabbing his friend to death at an oil field crew camp in western North Dakota.
Thirty-one-year-old Ryan Anderson is charged with murdering 32-year-old Christopher King, and attempted murder for allegedly trying to stab another man after an alcohol-fueled dispute early Sunday.
Authorities say Anderson and King were longtime friends who moved from Michigan to work in North Dakota's oil fields. A hometown wasn't listed for either man.
Court documents obtained by The Williston Herald indicate the stabbing happened following a physical fight between Anderson and his girlfriend around 4 a.m. Sunday. According to the documents, King and others at the Capital Lodge crew camp intervened in the fight, which led to another altercation where Anderson allegedly stabbed King four times with a hunting knife -- twice in the chest and twice in the abdomen. Anderson reportedly attempted to stab another man in the chest as well.
After the stabbing, authorities say Anderson drove King to a hospital, where King was pronounced dead and Anderson was arrested.
