Bond Remains At $15 Million For Bob Bashara
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Wayne County Judge has denied Bob Bashara's request to have his $15 million bond lowered.
Circuit Court Judge Bruce Morrow on Monday filed the order denying the motion.
Bashara, 54, of Grosse Pointe Park, is charged with hiring a hit man to kill Joseph Gentz, the man who's charged with the murder of his wife, Jane.
Bashara's attorney last week asked for a "reasonable bond," arguing that his client has ties to the area and is not a flight risk.
Prosecutors argued that Bashara remains a threat to the community even as he sits in the Wayne County Jail.
Although he has not been charged with his wife's murder, Grosse Pointe Park police have called Bashara a person of interest in the murder.
Trial in the solicitation case is expected to begin November 12.
Meantime, Gentz remains jailed facing murder and conspiracy charges in the death of Jane Bashara, whose body was found in her Mercedes-Benz SUV in Detroit in January. Gentz has claimed Bashara paid him to kill his wife.
