Bond Denied For 2nd Suspect In Murder Of EMU Football Player
DETROIT (WWJ) - A second suspect is being held without bond in the murder of an Eastern Michigan University football player.
Kristopher Pratt, 20, of Detroit, stood mute to open murder, armed robbery and other charges in connection with the murder of EMU junior Demarius Reed last month.
A not guilty plea was entered for him at a video arraignment Tuesday.
Pratt's attorney, Stephanie Carson, didn't say much when she spoke with reporters at the courthouse.
"Well, I don't have the discovery, and I don't know what evidence they have, and I'm not going to be reckless about what I say," Carson said. "Because I want to know the evidence and then I can begin my investigation after I see what they have."
"It's just a very tragic situation, and I just genuinely hope my client's not associated with it, which I hope to prove in court," she said.
Carson is also representing Pratt on an unrelated charge of armed robbery in Harper Woods.
Reed was found shot to death in a stairwell of an Ypsilanti apartment building in October.
Ed Thomas, 20, is also accused in the case. He was arraigned Monday on charges of open murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and remains behind bars awaiting his next court appearance.
