Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuations In Downtown Lansing
LANSING (WWJ) - A bomb threat that forced the evacuation of several buildings in downtown Lansing, including the Police Department, City Hall and the State House Office Building is over.
Police apparently received a call around 9 a.m. that a possible explosive device had been planted in a building.
The bomb squad and trained dogs searched the area while employees were evacuated to a nearby building as a precaution. At noon, WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with reporter Alanna Autler from WLNS-TV, who was site in downtown Lansing.
"They did not say when they would let people back in because they're still searching," she said. "It's an ongoing investigation to see who made the call, where did it come from, if there are anymore threats, you know, down the line."
Nothing was found and employees were let back in early Friday afternoon.
