Bomb Threat At Macomb County Courthouse
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - The "all clear" has been given at the Macomb County Circuit Court building, after a bomb threat was called in Monday afternoon.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said they had a K-9 unit and investigators at the scene, but no suspicious devices were found.
Wickersham said that even when a bomb threat turns out to be a hoax, it's still a big inconvenience.
"The courts have a busy docket and everything has to be postponed. And employees and people of the court need to be evacuated and then we have to bring in our resources to make sure of the safety of our citizens and our workers," he said.
"It's pulling all the resources together first to make sure the building's safe. Secondly, we've got our investigators trying to identify the individual that did call in the threat. And then, again, if you look at it from the court aspect, you know, that was a half-a-day of docket that has to be rescheduled and work that was lost from other county employees," the Sheriff said.
The building was evacuated for most of the day.
