Body Found In Monroe County Identified As Chelsea Bruck

MONROE COUNTY (WWJ) -- The body of a woman found in Monroe County on Friday has been positively identified as missing 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck.

Authorities announced at a press conference on Saturday that the remains found Friday in Ash Township did in fact belong to Bruck, who has been missing since October 2014.

"Today at approximately 4 p.m., we received confirmation from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office that the body was in fact that of Chelsea Bruck," Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said during the press conference. "Since that time, the Bruck family has been notified."

Malone said that the case is a homicide case. An autopsy has not yet been completed.

"Over the past few months, detectives have gathered evidence from several locations both in and out of the county of Monroe," Malone said. "Evidence was also recovered at the scene yesterday.

"Each time we've received information -- how small it was -- we went out and we searched those areas," Malone continued, "The family -- we've kept them in the loop all along. They've instructed their people on where to search as well."

Police were called on Friday after construction workers discovered a body while working near Briar Hill Road near Will Carleton Road.

Monroe County Sheriff Deputy Chief Heath Velliquette says a man came across the woman's body as he was doing work on his property.

Bruck had been missing since Oct. 26, when apparently she walked away from a Halloween party at a rural farmhouse on Post Road in Frenchtown Township during the early morning hours. A $30,000 cash reward had been offered in the case.
