Body Found In Burning Home On Detroit's West Side
DETROIT (WWJ) - What started as a house fire on Detroit's west side is now a homicide investigation.
The fire happened early Tuesday morning at a boarded-up, two-story home in the 5000 block of Ivanhoe, just south of I-96 between Livernois and Tireman.
Firefighters from Engine 42 responded to the home and discovered the body in a side entranceway. Information on the victim was not immediately available.
Officials say it's not yet clear what started the fire, although arson investigators were called to the scene to help determine a cause.
Investigators suspect the victim was assaulted at another location and then taken to the vacant home where a fire was set.
An investigation is ongoing.
