Blaze Destroys Warren Tire Store
WARREN (WWJ) - A fire has destroyed a Warren tire store overnight. Police said the fire occurred at Nationwide Tire on Nine Mile and Van Dyke around 2:30 Saturday morning. There are no reports of injuries.
"It appears to be a total loss. I can still smell the smoke from the fire. There is a huge section of the building that's missing because of the fire in the back part," WWJ's Stephanie Davis reported.
No injuries have been reported and it appears the building was empty at the time of the fire.
Although the building is charred, the fire could have been much worse, had it not been for the fire house located just a few doors down.
Fire officials there said a firefighter was on duty when he heard an alarm coming from the tire store, looked out the window, saw the smoke and got in gear to respond to the blaze.
Reportedly, the tire shop had only been in business for a few months.
An investigation is ongoing.
